It's slowly coming together, the gaming rig I've wanted for well nigh 10 years. Last Saturday I got 2 important pieces of the arsenal. The keyboard and the mouse.

The keyboard's a regular USB multimedia keyboard you can get anywhere for around Rs.700/=. No big deal there. Except maybe that it did have a few more "multimedia" buttons than my previous cheapo keyboard. And the volume buttons seem to work with the System volume all the time, which is good.

And now, the mouse! Well, putting a cheap-ass Chinese 600DPI mouse in command of the new premium hardware just didn't appeal to me. Soooo... I went and blew Rs.4250/= on this sweet piece of Swiss hardware that is the Logitech MX518. The local shops did have a G5 (Rs.7000/=) and even a G9 (Rs.11500/=), but c'mon! That much money for a mouse? I'm not exactly loaded now, am I?

Even Rs.4250/= for a mouse is plain darn crazy I hear you say, but seeing that even on Newegg.com this mouse sells for ~$40, I think I got a good price. And these regular mice you get for Rs.800 odd just can't hold a candle to this piece!

First pf all, it's big. Lots of real estate for my hand to rest on. The contours provide a real nice grip, especially the carved out spot for the thumb. The two sensitivity changing buttons on top work with no trouble. I especially like the Application button which will show a selectable list of currently open apps when pressed. And then there's the usual "back". "forward" buttons on the side. The feet are slick as advertised. The MX518 just glides! Coming form my old Micrsoft mouse, I'll need a bit of getting used to the smoothness of movement. I'm yet to play any games with this, but I have no doubt my MX518 will beat them all to submission.

All right! Now I've got a kickass trigger to shoot with! Counting days till the real big guns arrive from the US of A! Shouldn't be more than a week, if all goes well...

An elderly lady phoned her telephone company to report that her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions when it did ring, her pet dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile elderly lady.

He climbed a nearby telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned loudly and the telephone began to ring.

Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:

1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire via a steel chain and collar.
2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.
3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the phone number was called.
4. After a couple of such jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate on himself and the ground.
5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring.

Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.

Yes! Yes !! Yes!!!

They're finally officially out and up for grabs here. The price ain't bad either! About time AMD came up with something good in the CPU department! Now I can stick it to those in-breeding Intel afficianados!

After so much waiting and news checking and review browsing, finally I'm gonna be able to buy the rest of the pieces for my ultimate gaming machine, starting with the Phenom II 940!
Now if only I could decide what mobo to go with...
Asus M3A78-T or Asus M3A79-T or MSI DKA790GX Platinum? Or something else altogether? Words of wisdom anyone?
