After working fine for many days, suddenly my computer refused to boot! When I disconnect/reconnect power and press the power switch, fans would start spinning up but stop in like a second. There was power coming to the motherboard and all the components were fine. I concluded that the PSU was going in to latch-off state to protect the components from some electrical abnormality.
Needless to say i was distraught. Sending it back to USA for replacement from Sri Lanka wasn't really an option. So I took off the cover and looked around, without any real hope.
Then I took it a electronics repair shop. The dude there manually turned it on by short circuiting the green/black wires (something I didn't know you could do :)) and tested all the output wires and claimed them to be all ok. Then we connected it to an old computer which was handy just to make sure and voila! it booted and ran fine.
Sooo, I brought the sucker back home and plugged it in. And it worked! And it's continued to work fine so far.
Well, I'm certainly happy at the turn of events, though I can't explain its sudden desire to latch-off, which I hope will not re-occur. It's a quality piece of hardware mind you, but better make sure you have the option of claiming the warranty. And if be sure to register it online as soon as you get it, to avail yourself of the lifetime warranty deal (10 years for those outside of USA).
