We of the Sri Lankan extreme metal quintet Raaksha have launched our official MySpace page at myspace.com/raakshalk. Available for your listening pleasure is the brand new single off our upcoming album, entitled "Sidhapathini". This is the step in our effort to merge Sinhala folk music with extreme metal, incorporating Sinhala ethnic drumming and exorcism ritual chants.

Feel free to download the MP3 from "Sidhapathini". Enjoy!

Actually, the title of this post's a bit misleading coz the Elite Force was the one who won. Star Trek : Voyager's Elite Force I mean.

Another milestone in my O.C.D. induced frenzy to finish off old, but highly acclaimed games. The story was pretty good as it kept the action moving in varying environs. I believe this uses the Queke 3 engine, which ain't bad at all considering when the game was released. And I'm not complaining since that allowed me to run it at 1600X1200 with everything turned up even with my geriatric Geforce 6600. Ah the joy of gaming on a bigass screen. Things just got a lot prettier. Well, except for the character models who, when holding a gun, walk like they're pregnant with a misplaced uterus (on the hip).

Admittedly, the final boss (the Vohrsoth) was possibly one of the toughest I've faced, merely due to the fact that the ugly piece of excreta could stand a LOT of damage. But circle strafing and perseverance wins the day yet again.

What shall I get my hands dirty with next? Another dusty title from the Suran's Museum Of Gaming, or one of these new fangled beauties that eat graphics cards for breakfast?

Yes! I've done it! After more than an year of sporadic walking, running, chocobo and buggy riding, boating, flying, submarining and fighting, fighting and more fighting, I finally laid waste to Sephiroth's mutated ass!

The game's old, but it is undoubtedly one of the most engrossing, involving and enjoyable games I've ever played. The experience was slightly marred by the numerous technical glitches and crashes, but where there's a will, there's a way!

And I did pretty much everything there is to do in this huge, looooong game. Bred a gold chocobo and kicked the collective hineys of all other chocobos at the races in Gold Square, including Teioh (eat that you hat-wearing cowboy wannabe!). And once yo get Knights Of The Round materia, nothing can stand in your way! Although with shame, I must admit to using it several times to kill some of the really irritating baddies, including Bizarro Spehiroth, who, to his credit, was still standing even after a coupla hits from this ridiculously overpowered aircraft carrier of an attalk (70000+ damage points!).

Ah, it was truly a magnificent game, proving that ultra super realistic graphics don't hold a candle to a marvelous bit of imagination and skilled story telling. That said, I am glad it's over with. On to bigger and better things!

Well I'm a Sony Ericsson fan when it comes to mobile phones. But this 'ere phone from Nokia, with a 3.5" (640x360) display, 32GB + (16GB MicroSD) storage, full QWERTY keyboard, 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, 30FPS video recording and a plethora of connectivity options, looks pretty damn suh-weet.

Check out the specs for yourself at Nordic Hardware.
